Abstract
In this chapter, R is used to support detailed analyses relevant to the biological sciences, where main effects and possible interactions are examined for how a specific insect reacts to different chemical formulations and environmental factors. New R-based tools (packages and associated functions and graphics) are introduced in this chapter, resulting in graphical output that approaches publishable quality. An additional feature in this chapter is the presentation of R syntax that treats data from a nonparametric perspective, which should be considered if there are concerns about data distribution patterns or other assumptions inherent to selected tests. This chapter concludes with optional suggestions on how to manage the R work session for lengthy and complex analyses.
